2nd Annual DAM Triathlon

1/2 mi Swim, 12.3 mi bike, 3.2 mi Run Sprint distance, USAT sanctioned triathlon at Lake Gardner in Amesbury, MA. Racers will start at Lake Gardner, swim a counter clockwise rectangle, bike on a beautiful course that takes you through Newton and South Hampton and finish with a run to Woodsom Farm and back. This is a great sprint triathlon!.

Race Start:

The Dam Triathlon will start at 8am (weather permitting, the race could start later due to mother nature) Please be in the transition area no later than 7:40am for a Pre-Race Announcement. *This is extremely important! Be sure that you're body marked no later than 7:30am.

Elite/Open (E/O) Category and Cash Prize Info:

To be eligible for the Cash Prizes you must enter the Elite/Open Category BEFORE race day. If you are an athlete that decides to race in the Elite/Open category you will NOT be eligible for Age Group awards or placing.

$1250 Cash Purse ($700 Cash, $550 in gift cards)

  • 1st E/O M/F = $250 Cash, $100 Fit Werx Gift Card
  • 2nd E/O M/F = $100 Cash, $75 Fit Werx Gift Card
  • 3rd E/O M/F = $50 Fit Werx Gift Card, $50 City Sports Card

Award Categories:

  • Top 3 overall Male and Female. Top Three in each of the following age group:Under 19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59,60-69, 70+
  • Top 3 finishers in Clydesdale, Athena, Challenged Athlete.

Packet Pickup:

You can pick up your packet at the Amphitheater in downtown Amesbury MA on Friend Street *Near Flatbreads Pizza. Friday July 8, 2011 from 12:00pm-7:00pm. Please bring your ID – NO ID, NO RACE!!
It is recommendeded that all athletes pickup their packet on Friday July 8th, but we understand if you are unable to until race day. The Lake will be open for packet pickup between the hours of 6am – 7:30am – NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION.

Every Athlete Must Bring

  • Photo ID – This is MANDATORY, NO ID, NO RACE. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • USAT member card (if you are a member.)

Every participating athlete must pick up his/her own packet and sign a waiver. You must pick up your OWN race materials. If you are on a team, all team members must pick up their own packet prior to racing.

Race Confirmation: Please carefully indicate your e-mail address on the application. A confirmation email with important race information will be sent to all registered athletes one week prior to the race.

Race Refunds: Sorry, no refunds, no exceptions. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL A RACE ENTRANT BE ALLOWED TO TRANSFER, SELL OR SUBSTITUTE ANOTHER ATHLETE AT ANY TIME. The event organizer has the right to shorten or even cancel the event if, in his or her judgment, environmental conditions including weather become dangerous; in this situation no refunds will be given.

Parking on Race Day

Spots are limited in and around Market Square. Majority of Parking will be at Municipal Lot, and at the Lower Mill Yard located on Friend Street in Downtown Amesbury. If you are running late, please do NOT park on the course. There will be NO parking signs on Pond, Whitehall and Friend Street.

Course Information:

  • The Lake Gardner Swim:

    Lake Gardner Swim

    1/2 mile counterclockwise rectangle swim starting from the Lake Gardner beach. Athletes will start in 3 minute waves. Average water temperature in July is 70 degrees F.

    Wetsuits: Athletes are permitted to wear a wetsuit if the water temperature is 78 degrees Fahrenheit or below. When the water temperature is greater than 78 degrees, but less than 84 degrees Fahrenheit, age group participants may wear a wet suit at their own discretion, provided however that participants who wear a wet suit within this temperature range shall not be eligible for prizes or awards. Age group participants shall not wear wet suits in water temperatures equal to or greater than 84 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • The Scenic Bike Course:

    Amesbury Triathlon Bike Course

    This is a beautiful 12.3 mile bike course through the back roads of Newton, South Hampton and Amesbury. Start from Lake Gardner, ride out to Woodsom Farm and continue through the beautiful Lake Attitash area. This is a draft-free event. Marshals will be enforcing USA Triathlon drafting guidelines. All athletes must have CPSC approved helmets to participate.

  • The Run:

    Amesbury Triathlon Running Course

    3.2 mile run consists of a scenic run to Woodsom Farm and back. On the way, there will be two water and sports drink stops.

Stick Around After the Event – you don't want to miss this!

Post Race Activities:

Stick around for an awesome post-race party with music, Ipswich Brewery and Cody Brewing Company.The first Beer is free! So be sure to hand the Triathlon staff your race bib to receive your free beer, additional beer is $4. You must be 21 years of age and you must have a colored wrist band. Hang out on the beach and enjoy some food under the tent.

Cody Brewing: Come check out this local brewer! Cody will be featuring popular microbrews for you to try!
Hang out on the beach, get a free massage, enjoy some music and check out the vendors as you cool down after the race! Relax, kickback and enjoy the show!
